Along the National Mall in Washington, D.C., one can visit monuments that remember and honor our nation’s war dead. Among these are the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the deeply moving Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Perhaps itap time to erect a new monument — one to memorialize the victims of U.S. mass shootings. We must be sure to inscribe each person’s name and their age (since so many are single-digit) on the structure. And, judging by the inaction of our legislators to change our nation’s gun laws, we’ll need to leave plenty of extra room to add more names.
Wouldn’t this be a proud addition to our nation’s capital?
