Prep basketball rundown: Notable Class 4A performances in the boys Great 8

Pueblo West, Lewis-Palmer, Pueblo South and Longmont all advanced to the Final Four next week at the Denver Coliseum

Here’s a list of notable performances from the Class 4A boys Great 8 on Saturday. The action resumes next week with the Final Four at the Denver Coliseum on Friday, March 9. The championship game is Saturday, March 10. 

No. 1 Pueblo South 59, No. 9 Valor Christian 50: The Colts (24-2) were led by double-digit scoring performances by senior forwards Jeremy Cody and Marcell Barbee to advance to Denver and send home the defending champion Eagles (17-9).

No. 5 Longmont 62, No. 4 Falcon 54: Senior point guard Luke Johnson to propel the Trojans (24-2) past the Falcons (20-6), as Longmont also got a double-digit scoring performance from junior guard Brady Renck.

No. 2 Lewis-Palmer 70, No. 10 Widefield 67: The upstart Gladiators (21-6) gave the Rangers (24-2) all they could handle, but junior guard Matthew Ragsdale hit the game-winning three at the buzzer to send the 2017 state runner-up Rangers back to the Final Four.

No. 6 Pueblo West 57, No. 14 Ponderosa 48: Senior guard Nieyeme Snyder-Williams paced the Cyclones (20-6) propelling Pueblo West back into the Final Four and ending by coach Max Schuman and the Mustangs (16-10).
