Jefferson County has named Peggy Catlin, a longtime transportation engineer and former CDOT higher-up, to fill the vacant seat on the Regional Transportation District’s 15-member board of directors.
The county commissioners are scheduled to formally approve Catlin’s appointment at their meeting on Tuesday.
Catlin, who will represent RTD’s District N, will fill the seat that had been occupied by Tina Francone. Francone was chosen in January as Jefferson County’s newest commissioner after Don Rosier departed for a job in the private sector.
Catlin’s term with RTD will run through the end of the year. She will have to stand for election if she chooses to remain on the board past 2018.
Catlin, a licensed engineer, has worked over the last 40 years in the transportation sector. She owns Catlin & Company, which provides transportation consulting services. Catlin served as deputy executive director for Colorado Department of Transportation from 2000 to 2011 and she was vice president for HNTB Corp. for six years before that.
RTD’s 15-member elected board of directors oversees a $626 million budget and 2,800 employees in the agency that provides bus and rail service to 2.8 million residents living in eight counties surrounding Denver.
