Suspect ID’d in Aurora fatal shooting

The shooting victim has not been identified yet by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office

A 32-year-old faces a first-degree murder charge for a fatal shooting in Aurora Friday afternoon, police said.

Police identified the murder suspect as Travon Sanders, who was arrested Friday.

The shooting happened before 5:30 p.m. near East 13th Avenue and Sable Boulevard.

At the time of the shooting, residents of the area were told to “shelter in place.” At 6:05 p.m., police said the shooting was fatal and Sanders was taken into custody just a few blocks from the shooting scene.

The shooting victim was found inside a residence and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The shooting victim has not been identified yet by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
