Re: “Itap time to ditch the twice yearly time change,” March 15 Krista Kafer column.
Krista Kafer describes the change to and from daylight saving time as unnatural, unhealthy, inhumane, frustrating, brain-fogging and designed to turn people into zombies. If this covers her symptoms, then she needs to see both her shrink and medical doctor.
Travelers have long used the rule of thumb that it takes one day to adjust to each hour of time change. The change to or from daylight saving time is no different than flying from Denver to Chicago (spring forward) or Los Angeles (fall back), something thousands of people do daily without any apparent physical or psychological trauma.
If Colorado adopts year-round daylight saving time, then we would be an hour out of step with all the surrounding states including, Wyoming and western Nebraska and western Kansas, which are on Mountain time. Furthermore, it would subject us to long, dark mornings in winter. From approximately Thanksgiving until mid-February, the sun would not rise until after 8 a.m. and at the latest would be rising around 8:30.
