An early-morning crash on southbound I-25 south of I-225 slowed traffic Monday morning.

A collision on southbound Interstate 25 just south of Interstate 225 is causing a major headache for Denver metro commuters and state transportation workers caution all drivers to slow down.

Three lanes of southbound I-25 are closed and only the left lane is open following a collision just before 6 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The crash is sure to cause major delays for commuters headed to the Denver Tech Center, CDOT said.

“Give yourself extra time to get to work. Wet roads with slushy areas along the Front Range. Watch for standing water. Ice and slick spots on bridges and overpasses,” a CDOT tweet at about 5 a.m. said.

A jackknifed tractor-trailer on southbound I-25 at Castle Pines Parkway is blocking the left two lanes of the highway after a crash just after 6 a.m.

The left lane of northbound I-25 also is blocked to allow emergency vehicles to get through, according to CDOT tweets.
