The town of Breckenridge will offer a free shuttle to the popular Aspen Alley Trail for three weeks this fall in an effort to cut down on traffic and parking congestion during peak leaf-peeping season.
The 15-passenger shuttle will run daily from Sept. 12 through Oct. 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., making a continuous loop between the Stephen C. West Ice Arena transit stop and the Wakefield trailhead. Pickups are expected about every 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
“We were fortunate to secure grant funding for the shuttle,” said Duke Barlow, Breckenridge open space and trails director. “It does double-duty by reducing parking congestion at the Wakefield trailhead while giving visitors comfortable, all-day access to the trailhead.”
Parking at the Wakefield trailhead will be closed during the three-week period, with the exception of two ADA-accessible spaces and an area for the shuttle to turn around.
