Evans, 68, pleaded guilty on March 21 to second-degree assault – drugging a victim and unlawful sexual contact, according to Boulder District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Olguin.

He is scheduled for sentencing on June 1. The second-degree assault charge is a Class 4 felony that could carry a prison sentence of two to six years in prison, while the unlawful sexual contact charge is a misdemeanor that could carry up to a year in jail.

Evans had originally pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and was scheduled to stand trial this week. But prosecutors dropped the sexual assault charge and canceled the trial with the plea agreement.

According to an arrest affidavit, the Boulder District Attorney’s Office was notified about the assault in 2016 when the woman tried to file a restraining order against Evans and told her lawyer he had sexually assaulted her in the fall of 2011 when she was 15.
