Three missing teen hikers have been found after getting lost following a Wednesday hike near the Goose Creek and Wigwam trailheads.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office put out a call for the public’s help in finding the teens on Saturday. Shortly before 3:30 p.m., the teens had been found.

“They are safe but had gotten lost,” the sheriff’s office said. “We have a rescue team currently escorting them out of the area, but it will be several hours before they’re all the way out.”

The teenagers are described as two 17-year-old girls — one who is an experienced backpacker — and a 19-year-old man, the sheriff’s office said. All the hikers were equipped with appropriate gear, clothing and food.
