Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens recently wrote an op-ed in The New York Times calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment to allow for significant gun control legislation.

Re: “Second Amendment repeal would hurt Constitution,” March 30 Noah Feldman column.

Noah Feldman raises some good questions as to why repealing the Second Amendment, or any other amendment, would be a bad idea for our Constitution. However, I disagree with his conclusion, because the Second Amendment has no application today, and I stand with those who want it repealed.

When the Second Amendment was written, the playing field was far more level. When you look at other democracies, we are the only ones so addicted to gun ownership and held hostage by a gun lobby. Americans need to change culturally and get past this obsession. And no citizen should ever have automatic weapons.

If you people to go to a gun range and pretend to be a warrior, perhaps these places could rent guns so they can get their jollies and then turn them back in when they are finished firing at a target.
