A three-car crash involving an oil spill has caused delays Wednesday afternoon, backing up northbound Interstate 25 from Interstate 70 back to 6th Avenue.

Colorado Department of Transportation said the crash occurred on the I-25 ramp onto I-70. Two lanes of traffic are passing by the scene.

CDOT traffic center spokesman James Phillips said the delays shouldn’t last much longer.

Denver Police Department spokesman Jay Casillas said a driver rear-ended another car, which then hit the vehicle in front of it. The first driver, a girl under 18, was cited with careless driving.

Oil from one of the cars spilled onto another vehicle. It has since been cleaned up, he said.

There were minor injuries but Casillas did not know which drivers were hurt.
