Another major spring storm is barreling down on the Colorado mountains, the latest in a series that has dumped 4-5 feet of snow this month alone on three Front Range resorts that

Winter Park has received  51 inches this month, well over the resort’s average April snowfall of 38 inches, and forecasters are saying it could receive as much as 19 more from the storm set to hit Friday and Saturday. Winter Park closes Sunday but adjoining Mary Jane will remain open until May 6.

Loveland, which is set to close May 6, received 59 inches in April and is bracing for 7-18 more this weekend. , which closes Sunday, also has reported 59 inches this month. Arapahoe Basin received 43 inches in April, and plans there are to remain open until at least June 3. Eldora, which closes Sunday, has received 34 inches this month.

Winter Park will be marking its 50th Spring Splash on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., while Breck will bring down the curtain with the Breck Plunge pond skim event from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Purgatory previously announced that it would be open on weekends through the end of April, but those plans changed and that southwest Colorado resort will close this weekend. Skiing there will be free both days.
