Top-seeded Nashville wasn’t too hospitable to the visiting Avalanche, beating Colorado twice in the Music City to take a 2-0 lead in their opening-round playoff series. The Avs have now lost 12 straight games to the Predators.

Colorado returns home to the Pepsi Center on Monday where it finished 28-11-2 in the regular season. And it’s going to need some of that Mile High magic if it wants to avoid elimination.

History hasn’t been kind to teams that have fallen behind in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There have only been to win the series, according to hockey-reference.com. And just 28 times from a 3-1 uphill battle. Colorado knows the pain of the latter, losing to the Oilers in ’98 and the Wild in ’03 after being up in the series.

Win twice and it’s a whole new ballgame. Lose on Monday and the door is all but shut for the Avs’ season.
