Multiple houses in The Meadows neighborhood in Castle Rock burned Tuesday morning, officials said.

Fire crews have contained the fire, and are mopping up, authorities announced just before 11:30 a.m.

Multiple agencies assisted Douglas County authorities with the wind-stoked blaze.

The damaged homes are in the 4800 block of Foxtail Drive and on adjacent Silverlace Drive, according to a Castle Rock news release.

In all, seven homes sustained some level of damage from a fire that started in one Foxtail Drive residence at about 10 a.m., fire officials said. Strong winds carried the original fire to an additional six homes. Two homes are a total loss, the other five sustained minor to moderate damage. The cause remains under investigation.

There were no injuries, according to the Castle Rock Fire Department, but two dogs are missing from the first home where the fire originated.

Video provided by South Metro Fire Rescue shows completely charred homes engulfed in smoke being doused in water as a house next door with a basketball hoop in the driveway sits seemingly untouched by the flames.

Immediate surrounding homes were evacuated.

A fast-moving grassfire also in Douglas County triggered pre-evacuation notice for people living near Keene Ranch that was lifted around 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Boulder warned Coloradans about critical to extreme fire weather conditions developing across portions of the state Tuesday.
