Slather on suntan lotion before going out in the sunshine Thursday because a heat record in the Mile High City is about to fall, forecasters say.
The high is expected to top out at around 89 degrees, which would be 3 degrees hotter than the record of 86 degrees set at Denver International Airport on May 10, 1991, according to the National Weather Service.
Denverites will be basking under sunny skies Thursday afternoon. Southwesterly breezes gusting up to 20 mph are possible.
The hot temperatures pose a fire danger on the Eastern Plains.
