One person was injured Thursday evening in a smoky fire at a tortilla plant near downtown Denver.
The fire started before 6 p.m. at Tortillas Mexico, 840 W. 11th Ave., according to the Denver Fire Department.
The injured person got out of the building before firefighters arrived and was taken to a hospital. The injured person suffered “moderate” injures, according to the fire department.

A thick plume of black smoke was visible from downtown. The fire temporarily shut down northbound Santa Fe Drive at 11th Avenue. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
