The Avalanche may have been eliminated from the NHL playoffs, but hockey is still going strong in the Centennial State.
The Colorado Eagles — the Avs’ ECHL affiliate in Loveland — are in the Western Conference finals of the Kelly Cup playoffs. And they’re looking for a fairy-tale ending before moving up to the AHL next season to become the Avs’ top minor-league team. Colorado beat the Fort Wayne Komets in . And they fell just short in Game 2 Sunday, losing 3-2.
These are two teams that don’t like each other. Seriously, there was a brawl before the game even started.
Win the series and the Eagles will get a chance to raise the trophy for a second straight year. Lose, and we’ll have to wait five more months until hockey returns.
