UFC fighter Neil Magny landed a replacement opponent and a young girl is getting $15,000 to help battle a rare genetic disease.
Magny (20-6), who trains with the Denver-based Elevation Fight Team, will face Craig White at UFC Fight Night on May 27 in Liverpool, England. White (14-7) replaces Gunnar Nelson and is making his debut with the company.
On May 10, Magny posted on Instagram that if he gets a new opponent, he would pledge a portion of his earnings from the bout to help 1-year-old Presley O’Doherty battle spinal muscular atrophy. It is a disease that affects part of the nervous system that controls voluntary muscle movement.
“If the UFC is able to find me an opponent for May 27th,” , “I will donate $15,000 of my fight purse to help this little girl and her family get the care that she needs.”
Magny, ranked No. 9 among UFC welterweights, is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Carlos Condit in December.
