A flash food watch has been issued for parts of northeast Colorado through Saturday afternoon with rain, cooler temperatures and breezes expected to make up the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Boulder issued the watch for low-lying areas within northeast and north central Colorado through 6 p.m. An additional one to two inches of rain is expected to fall on Saturday along with a high temperature of 50 degrees and wind gusts that could reach the 20 miles per hour range.
While the day may not be ideal for some poolside relaxation, it could be the perfect storm for some spring cleaning.
Meteorologists expect the heaviest rain to fall in areas north of a line from Briggsdale to Fort Morgan to Akron in the upper east corner of the state.
Cool with rain showers. Heavier rain will be over the northeast plains & may cause flooding of low lying areas.

“Elsewhere, rain will be lighter and is not expected to cause flooding,” the National Weather Service said.
Saturday night along the Front Range is predicted to be cloudy with patchy fog and a slight chance of evening rain showers.
The mountains could see up to two inches of new snow over the ridges produced by scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Saturday.
Although Sunday is supposed to be drier, a chance of afternoon thunderstorms remains and lingers into the work week. The week’s temperatures should be warmer, so don’t feel the need to unpack all those sweaters you just put away. Warmer but wet days should prevail.
