Denver will be within a few degrees within a heat record on Monday with a high of around 85 degrees, forecasters say.
The record high temperature in Denver is 87 degrees, which was set in 1989, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Brisk southerly winds could gust up to 21 mph.
High temperatures will reach the 80s through Thursday, according to the NWS.
“The 7-day planner includes something for everyone. Unseasonably warm temperatures today through Thursday, then indications are that we’ll turn cooler and wetter toward this coming weekend,” the weather service says.
The next chance for rain showers and thunderstorms is on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m.

Because of the storm, temperatures will be about 12 degrees lower on Friday than on Thursday.
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms between Thursday and Sunday, when the high temperature will only be about 62 degrees.
