A recap of the Broncos’ fourth organized team activity on Tuesday (second one that was open to the media):
Injury report: Cornerback Bradley Roby (illness), guard Ron Leary (knee), right tackle Jared Veldheer (foot), tight end Troy Fumagalli (sports hernia), receiver Jordan Taylor (hips) and defensive lineman Clinton McDonald (shoulder).
Roby was the only new addition to the injury report from last Tuesday’s OTA.
Fumagalli and Veldheer did side field work. Leary watched last Tuesday’s OTA but was not spotted as a spectator today.
Practice highlights
Some notable plays from 11-on-11 work …
Catching touchdowns were Courtland Sutton (from Chad Kelly), Isaiah McKenzie (from Paxton Lynch), DaeSean Hamilton (from Kelly), Emmanuel Sanders (from Case Keenum), Jake Butt (from Lynch) and Jordan Leslie (from Kelly).
Interceptions were by cornerbacks Tramaine Brock (off Keenum) and Marcus Rios (off Kelly). On consecutive plays, cornerbacks Chris Harris and Brendan Langley dropped interceptions of Keenum passes.
Brock and Langley played outside cornerback opposite Harris due to Roby’s absence.
Observed penalties were by Von Miller (off-sides), rookie Jeff Holland (off-sides), offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio (false start) and a defensive pass interference penalty near the end zone (could not identify the guilty party).
Keenum fumbled while trying to wind up his throw. Defensive end Derek Wolfe had beaten his man around the edge but did not appear to make contact.
Center J.J. Dielman airmailed a shotgun snap well over the head of Kelly and the play was immediately whistled.
Probably Keenum’s best throw was a 25-yard dart to Sanders on a post route for a touchdown.
Late in 11-on-11, Butt climbed the ladder to catcha pass from Lynch after Lynch was forced to scramble to his right.
Quarterback Nick Stevens spent 20 minutes after practice throwing to members of the Broncos’ coaching staff.
On the road. During their month-long summer break between OTAs and training camp, the Broncos will be travelling.
Receiver Demaryius Thomas said he will travel to Houston to work with Keenum and hopes to be joined by other receivers, running backs and tight ends.
Miller said he will host his second pass rushing summit over several days in late June in Branson, Mo.
Ellis speaks to team. Before the OTA, Broncos president/CEO Joe Ellis spoke to the entire team per coach Vance Joseph.
“It went well — it was good that Joe could address the team,” Joseph said. “It hadn’t been an issue with our football team, but the policy came out last week (on the national anthem) and he just wanted to confirm what the policy meant. It was a great conversation — again, a conversation. He gave some clarity to it and what it meant for us.”
