Honey, grab the kids, it’s time to head outdoors.
This Saturday, several outdoors organization are teaming up to host the 11th annual Colorado Get Outdoors Day at Sloan’s Lake Park. It’s a family-friendly event largely target at kids that focuses on supporting healthy lifestyle choices and nature-based activities. It’s best to start them young, right?
The free event includes youth fishing classes, paddling activities, live music, rock climbing and bike riding. Kids can try to earn a Junior Ranger Badge from the National Park Service and the United States Forest Service.
National Get Outdoors Day launched in 2008. It’s spread to cities across the country with events every second Saturday of June. Last year, roughly 6,000 people showed up in Denver.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 9 on the north shore of Sloan’s Lake.
