A 30-year-old man attending the Grand Junction-area shot himself in the stomach Friday evening in what authorities believe may have been an accident.
The incident — which investigators say was isolated — prompted the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office to assure attendees of the four-day festival that “this is not an active shooter situation.”
“This incident occurred in the campground,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “… Law enforcement immediately responded to the incident and has the area and individuals involved in the incident contained at this time.”
