A Loveland man spent a week in the hospital and faces a lengthy recovery after being run over by a vehicle in what police describe as “an act of road rage.”
“The road to recovery begins, but it’s a rough recovery,” Jamie Jochum Mangeris said about her son, 25-year-old Scottie DeGrote.
“He has a broken left ankle. He has a broken left wrist that they did surgery on Friday. He has a broken right knee. He has a small tear in his lung that they were watching. He has the worst deep road rash in areas throughout his body.”
He also has anger, questions and emotional trauma to process from what happened in the parking lot of the Loveland Walmart, 250 W. 65th St., a week ago, according to Jochum Mangeris.
She said that her son and a friend were driving home to Loveland from their job at a restaurant in Fort Collins last Sunday, June 10, when they noticed a vehicle that was weaving in and out of traffic on U.S. 287 and appeared to be targeting another car.
