One of the rarest baseball cards in existence is making its way to the History Colorado Center.
A PSA gem mint 10 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card will be on display from July 16-18 alongside the museum’s “Play Ball!” exhibit.
The card, owned by Denver collector Marshall Fogel, is just one of three that has received a PSA perfect-10 rating.
“You can have 10,000 Mantle cards, but to find the Holy Grail — 80 years and in perfect condition?” Fogel said in an interview with The Denver Post in March.
In 1996, Fogel was able to acquire the card for $121,000.
Just how much? Well, former Broncos guard Evan Mathis sold a slightly lesser quality PSA mint 9 version of the card for $2.88 million in April.
The card will be transported to the museum in an armored care and will be displayed in a temperature- and humidity-controlled case that has UV-lens protection.
“I never quarrel with a man who buys ink by the barrel,” former Indiana Rep. Charles Brownson said of the press. But we need your help to keep up with the rising cost of ink.
