A wildfire in Costilla County grew to 1,200 acres Wednesday, forcing evacuations in the Forbes Park area.

The Spring fire is burning east of Fort Garland and evacuation notices were sent to 383 residents, according to San Luis Valley Emergency staff. The fire was zero percent contained Wednesday night.

People evacuating from Forbes Park were sheltered at the Blanca-Fort Garland Community Center. On Wednesday night, the fire was burning toward the Wagon Creek area, where pre-evacuation orders were posted.
