The United States Forest Service declared Friday the Canyon Lakes Ranger District, which includes all National Forest System lands in Larimer County, is now under Stage 1 fire restrictions.

Stage 1 fire restrictions limit where visitors to the forest may build fires and certain potential fire-starting activities. According to a Forest Service press release, under the restriction visitors may not:

• Smoke, except in an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while in an area at least three feet in diameter cleared of all flammable materials.
