There’s a 50 percent chance that thunder and lightning will augment Wednesday night in the Denver metro area, according to meteorologists.
But cracks of lightning – and then, wait for it – peals of thunder may not dampen spirits late on July 4th as much as rain showers and a few isolated hail storms.
Through most of daylight hours it will be sunny with temperatures reaching 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
“A few severe storms will be possible with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. If you hear thunder, please head indoors or find shelter!” meteorologists warn.
In the late afternoon, clouds will build as southwest winds gust up to 21 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain and thunder mostly after 4 p.m. and then an increasing likelihood of rain and thunderstorms in the evening.
Slightly cooler, but still warm today. Better chance for t-storms, mainly east of the mountains. A few storms could be severe.
