Denver police are investigating an incident in which a suspect intentionally drove a car into a woman in the parking lot of a Denver apartment complex Thursday night and then drove away, authorities said.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she was in critical condition, said Jay Casillas, Denver police spokesman.

“A suspect intentionally ran over an adult female,” Casillas said Friday morning.

The only description of the suspect was that they were in a sedan. Neither the identity or gender of the suspect have been released.

Police are investigating the motive of what they are calling a vehicle assault, Casillas said.

Witnesses called police after the collision that happened at 8:20 p.m. in the parking lot of Lowry Boulevard Apartments at 400 N. Golfers Way.

“We’re talking to witnesses. We’re still trying to determine the (motive),” Casillas said.
