More than 60 people are involved in a search in Rocky Mountain National Park for a missing Fort Collins man, last seen a week ago.

Brian Perri, 38, was last known to be at the summit of Mount Meeker on June 30, according to a news release from Rocky Mountain National Park.

Brian Perri has been missing in the Mount Meeker area of Rocky Mountain National Park since June 30.

Saturday’s search efforts were concentrated on ridge lines and couloirs — steep, narrow mountainside gullies — including Loft Route Keplinger’s Couloir, the Dragon’s Egg Couloir and Meeker Ridge.

Northern Colorado Helitack will be searching for Perri from the skies while the national park’s search and rescue team, Larimer County Search and Rescue and Boulder-based Rocky Mountain Rescue will look for Perri on the ground.

Park rangers were alerted late Thursday that Perri was missing. The last clue revealing Perri’s location was a picture he texted to a friend on June 30 that showed himself from the summit of Mount Meeker. Rangers found Perri’s car in the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead parking lot.

Perri, who is 5-foot-9 and weights 160 pounds, was day hiking and was expected to return June 30 after hiking the 14 miles to and from the summit of Mount Meeker. The photograph Perri sent showed him wearing a tan, full brim hat; sunglasses; and a red backpack.

The hiker has minimal equipment, the news release said, but he could be carrying a yellow rain jacket and yellow-orange puffy jacket. Perri had no known tent or camping equipment.

Park rangers are asking to hear from anyone who has been in the Mount Meeker area since June 30, particularly those who noticed abandoned gear or other clues. Anyone with information is asked to call 970-586-1204.
