The firefighting cliche of rescuing a cat from a tree was turned on its head Saturday when members of the Denver Fire Department rescued a dog from a wildfire.
Denver fire crews sent to help at the Lake Christine fire in Eagle County were working when they came across a furry friend named Lulu running loose the burn area.
Denver’s firefighters notified local leadership that they’d found a dog, and the locals managed to find Lulu’s owners. A smile-filled reunion ensued.
A photo of Denver fire technician Pat Mahan shows the firefighter dressed in his gear bending down to give Lulu a deserved belly rub.
“Glad to be of service where we go!” read a tweet from the fire department.
