The Colorado Avalanche on Thursday signed defenseman to a one-year contract worth $2.5 million.
The 6-foot-3, 219-pound Nemeth led the Avs with a +27 plus/minus rating last season, fourth highest among NHL defensemen. He led the team with 185 blocked shots and also tallied three goals and 12 assists in 68 games.
“Patrik is a big, physical defenseman who is an important piece of our D-corps,” Avs executive vice president and general manager said in a news release. “He plays a significant role on our penalty kill, he blocks shots, and we’re happy to have him back this season.”
Nemeth, 26, was claimed on waviers from the last October.
“I never quarrel with a man who buys ink by the barrel,” former Indiana Rep. Charles Brownson said of the press. But we need your help to keep up with the rising cost of ink.
