A 22-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and was evacuated by helicopter from Devil’s Head Campground in Douglas County on Friday after a tree branch fell on his head while he was inside a tent, officials confirmed Saturday morning.

Emergency responders received the call to respond just before 10 p.m. Friday at site 15 of the Devil’s Head lower campsite, said Douglas County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Derek Castellano.

The man was bleeding from his ears after a tree branch 10 inches in diameter fell on his head.

The man was conscious and breathing when emergency responders arrived, Castellano said. The sheriff’s department didn’t know about the man’s condition Saturday.
