Fifteen firefighters with puppies in hand took to the Grizzly Rose stage Thursday night during a Firefighter Calendar Debut Party that doubled as a fundraiser for Lifeline Puppy Rescue.
The rescue previously sold calendars with just puppies, but decided to “kick it up a notch” by including the firefighters, calendar project manager Amy VanDerBroek said. Now, the calendars feature shirtless firemen holding the puppies as flames burn behind them. The calendars cost $20 and can be bought online at .
The rescue started in Colorado in 1993 and has saved 38,000 puppies in the west and midwest from euthanasia at city and county kill shelters.
