Add Aspen, Snowmass and Beaver Creek to the list of ski areas moving up their opening days thanks to great early snowfall and cold temperatures that have assisted snowmaking operations.
All three mountains will open on Saturday, Nov. 23, four days earlier than previously announced for Beaver Creek and five days for the Aspen Snowmass mountains. The Little Nell and Bell Mountain chairlifts on Aspen Mountain will be running, serving 75 acres with 2,600 vertical feet. Snowmass will offer 60 acres.
“With a series of incredible early season storms and cold temperatures, our mountain operations teams have been hard at work and we could not be more excited to open early on Aspen Mountain and Snowmass for the second year in a row,” said Katie Ertl, senior vice president of mountain operations at Aspen Snowmass, in a news release. “With 135 acres of combined skiable terrain on Aspen and Snowmass, perfectly groomed corduroy and a few storms coming mid-week, we are looking forward to a great 2019-20 season.”
Beaver Creek will offer more than 70 acres of beginner and intermediate terrain on two trails served by the Centennial Express chair and the Haymeadow Express Gondola.

This year, two Colorado areas recorded their earliest openings in resort history: on Nov. 2 and on Nov. 15. and both opened Nov. 1, which was the earliest for Eldora in 22 years and the earliest for Monarch since 1969.
Purgatory Resort also is scheduled to open Saturday, bringing the number of Colorado ski areas in operation as of this weekend to 14.
