Service reductions on multiple Regional Transportation District bus lines, including a midday slowdown on the 16th Street Mall shuttle, take effect Sunday.

RTD says it determined the service cuts based on ridership numbers and staffing availability. It is one of three service adjustments the agency does per year, and RTD says the changes should save it approximately $2 million annually.

The frequency of the 16th Street Mall shuttle will be reduced by half, to every 3 minutes, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Other routes that will see service reductions starting Sunday include Routes 3, 10, 20, 24, 46, 73 and 133. Most of the changes are minor, like discontinuing an early-morning or late-evening trip or reducing frequency during times of day with low ridership.
