Photos from the 2017 Colorado 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Red Rocks Amphitheater on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. The 10 annual Stair Climb honors firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in 2001. At the annual event at Red Rocks, each participant pays tribute by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center, a total of nine laps around the amphitheater.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks when hijacked planes slammed into the trade center, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 11, 2001, hurling America into a new consciousness of the threat of global terrorism.
