The great heat wave of September 2018 came to an end Wednesday as highs finally dipped below 90 degrees.
An afternoon storm greeted commuters in the Denver metro on the same day the city’s record nine-day streak of 90-degree days was broken. The high only reached 84 degrees before a storm rolled through the city.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for south central Denver County and western Arapahoe County through 7:45 p.m.
Street flooding is impacting visibility for drivers and causing traffic backups in places where roadways have standing water. Drive cautiously!

By Friday, Denver’s high temperature is expected to only be about 74 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
A pleasant weekend is in store for residents along the Front Range as high temperatures reach 82 degrees on Saturday and 84 on Sunday.
Sunny skies will persist early next week, but the highs will be in the 70s, forecasters say.
