A Weld County man was sentenced to over 10 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography that his daughter discovered on his phone.
The man, Frank Steven Wietecha, Jr., 49, had a prior state misdemeanor conviction for possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver.
Wietecha’s daughter had her father’s phone when she discovered the child pornography on it, the release stated. She turned the phone over to the FBI who discovered thousands of images of child pornography. Analysis of the phone showed he had been in possession of the images dating back to 2013.
Wietecha began serving time immediately following his sentencing Sept. 14, according to the release. The judge also ordered he be supervised for 15 years following his release.
