The 10-year-old Aurora girl who went missing for more than 24 hours was found safe in a park more than two miles from home, police said.

A distant relative was able to locate Daniela Ruano-Morales in a Hoffman Heights park near East 6th Avenue and North Peoria Street on Tuesday around 12:10 p.m., according to police.

Officials are still trying to determine how Daniela got to the Hoffman Heights area, but police said there was no evidence of an abduction.

Daniela told her parents that she was going to run away from home, authorities said.

More than 100 law enforcement officers from a variety of agencies — including the FBI, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Denver Police Department — were involved in the extensive search. Investigators used drones and search dogs in their efforts.
