A semi-truck collided with a freight train Thursday in Weld County, and 123 rail cars derailed.

The collision happened at about 5:45 p.m. near Weld County Roads 63 and 398, said Trooper Gary Cutler, a State Patrol spokesman.

The driver of the truck was not injured, Cutler said. The three-engine BNSF train was hauling freight cars that were empty. The truck was hauling salt water.

The messy crash, northeast of Keenesburg, remains under investigation.

This is a developing story.
