A 25-year-old woman died and a man was injured in a five-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon that forced a four-hour closure at the west metro Denver intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Kipling Street.

Lakewood police said they’re looking at speed and alcohol as factors in the crash. No names were provided.

A 47-year-old man believed by police to be “the at-fault driver” also was hospitalized, with non-life-threatening injuries, police spokesman Rob Albrets said.

“It looks like the female was stopped at a red light and got rear-ended. She was pushed into the intersection, where three other vehicles were involved,” Albrets said.

“We’re still investigating. The man hasn’t been charged yet. It is likely that he will be after treatment at the hospital.”

Police re-opened the intersection at about 5:15 p.m.
