LOVELAND — A search continued Monday for a kayaker reported missing on a northern Colorado lake.

Loveland Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Cerovski says two people called 911 at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday to report they had seen a man in his 50s kayaking on Buckingham Lake west of Loveland, and then saw an empty kayak.

Cervoski tells the Reporter Herald searchers didn’t know where, or if, the man went into the water. He says the kayaker could have capsized or itap possible the man reached shore and the kayak drifted back into the lake.

Divers searched for the man until about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, when the search switched to a recovery mode.
