A vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run early Thursday morning in Commerce City has been found, police say, and the driver of the vehicle has been identified.

Police did not name the driver, nor did they say whether the driver was arrested.

At about 4:15 a.m. police shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 270 from Interstate 70 to Interstate 76 following a hit-and-run fatal crash in which a pedestrian, a man, was killed.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release by Commerce City police. The person’s name was not released Thursday.

A witness called dispatchers at 4:15 a.m. and reported seeing a body on the 4200 block of westbound Interstate 270.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
