Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 64-year-old man for investigation of first-degree murder in the death of a woman, authorities say.

Jerald Arthur Cross allegedly shot and killed a woman at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 5200 block of Pintail Court in Morrison, according to a Monday news release from the sheriff’s office.

When deputies entered the home, they found a woman who appeared to have been shot. She was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cross has been booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
