An intense fire at a Littleton apartment damaged or destroyed 18 apartments and displaced around 45 residents late Tuesday night, according to a bulletin.

No home owners or firefighters were injured during the two-alarm blaze extinguished by Littleton and South Metro Fire Rescue Authority crews.

The fire broke out before 11 p.m. on the 5800 block of South Nevada Street, according to a Littleton Fire Department bulletin. Everyone in the building was evacuated.

Flames burst through the roof of the three-story apartment building, the bulletin says. Firefighters battled heavy fire conditions in the attic.

The flames were under control by 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, but fire officials said extensive overhaul was required to put out all hot spots.

Colorado and Wyoming Red Cross volunteers worked to get people displaced by the fire into temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
