One person is dead after a Wednesday morning shooting near East Montview Boulevard and Billings Street in Aurora, police said.
Aurora police spokesman Matthew Longshore said Wednesday afternoon that it is still an active investigation and that officers are canvassing the neighborhood.
At 11:14 a.m., an Adams County deputy, in the area for an unrelated incident, heard shots fired and ran to the scene, Longshore said.
Aurora police arrived shortly after and found a man outside who had been shot. They administered aid and rushed him to a hospital, Longshore said, where he was pronounced dead.
UPDATE: 1 party pronounced deceased. This is an active homicide investigation. Numerous APD Officers in the area continuing to look for suspects. Residents are asked to continue shelter in place. Media staging will be Billings/Montview. PIO on scene.

Police have very limited information about the suspect, Longshore said, adding that they hope to release more info later in the day.
