This Halloween, sex offenders across Colorado may receive a random visit from the Department of Corrections.

Local law enforcement, in partnership with the Department of Corrections, may randomly check in on any registered sex offenders currently on parole, the DOC said in a statement.

Offenders being supervised under sex offender directives are prohibited from participating in Halloween activities. This includes trick-or-treating or answering the door for trick-or-treaters. Sex offenders are also not allowed to put up decorations at their home that could attract trick-or-treaters.

In one Georgia county, a local sheriff’s office placed “no trick-or-treat” signs outside the homes of registered sex offenders ahead of Halloween.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has a and see where registered sex offenders are living in your community.
