Quarterback Case Keenum showed us what he can do in the Broncos’ last-minute victory against the Chargers. What we need to do is replace the lump on the sideline! Denver beat Los Angeles in spite of coach , not because of him. Why no challenge on the failed two-point conversion?

— Larry, challenges everything

Kiz: Hey, don’t blame us. The staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters decided more than a year ago the Broncos could do better than Joseph as coach. But, in the name of fairness, might it be a little silly to obsess over Joseph’s failure to challenge a blown call by the officials on a two-point conversion that ultimately had no bearing on a game Denver won? Here’s a more relevant question: Is it playoffs or bust for Joseph to keep his job? Or would it be good enough for general manager if Joseph rallied the team to finish 8-8?

Hey Kiz, I’ve been watching NFL football since the late 1950s and have a question: Why is rushing for 1,000 yards now considered a great achievement. When the NFL schedule had 12 or even 14 regular-season games, I could see good reason. But with 16 games? Jim Brown, Gale Sayers and other great backs must be shaking their heads.

Kiz: As football evolves, so must our way of measuring greatness. In the NFL offense of 2018, a truly great back must be a runner and a pass-catcher. So here’s what I suggest: The measure of greatness today should be 2,000 all-purpose yards, by running, catching, and also returning kicks. That versatility is why Philip Lindsay and , players from our neighborhood, are so valuable. Since 2015, the lone backs to break the 2,000-yard barrier for all-purpose yards are and . Ezekiel Elliot and Gurley are on pace to do it this season.

I know “Monday Night Football” has fallen from grace and itap not a big deal like it once was. But how are these guys broadcasting a nationally televised game? Itap just brutal to listen to.

Kiz: makes me nostalgic for the days of Fred “The Hammer” Williamson or Dennis Miller. That old Cowboy needs to hit the trail. “MNF” could immediately improve the telecast by 100 percent by hiring either of two former Broncos – Brian Griese or Mark Schlereth – as an analyst.

Why is a Denver sports columnist so fascinated with the Chiefs? It seems like you should be more focused on wasting $18 million on a trash quarterback and the fact Elway has decimated your team.

— Murph, Chiefs Kingdom

Kiz: Ketchup on steak is better than the Chiefs on defense. I’m no weatherman, but January is going to be bitter and cold for football fans in Kansas City.

And today’s parting shot is an acknowledgement that maybe CU football is living a lie.

I feel like the majority of CU fans are in agreement with you that Boulder is simply not a big-time football destination, but nobody wants to say it aloud.
