Even when the Avalanche are playing against his longtime team, former great and Hall of Fame center Mike Modano still doesn’t hesitate to proclaim Colorado’s top line of , Gabe Landeskog and as the best in all of hockey.

After MacKinnon’s second-period goal initially gave Colorado the lead in its 3-2 victory over the Stars at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, Modano tweeted, “Still #1.. @Avalanche that line can’t be stopped.”

That sentiment was followed by another tweet about an hour later, after Rantanen’s late third-period goal gave Colorado its sixth comeback victory of the season.

Rantanen leads the NHL with 38 points, while he, Landeskog and MacKinnon have combined for the most points by a trio in all of hockey with 99. Colorado’s top line finished with five points in Saturday’s victory over Dallas.

Some Stars fans took exception to Modano’s praise of Colorado’s top line, sometimes referred to as the “MGM Line” or the “Rocky Mountain Line”. But it’s far from the first time that Modano has taken to Twitter to crown the Avalanche trio as the best offensive threat in hockey.
